Producing Consumer Wood Briquettes? Choose the Right System

When having made the decision to produce consumer briquettes or heat logs from your excess production material, it is natural to give thought to the capacity of your future briquetting system. C.F. Nielsen services many industries with different needs in regards to capacity. Therefore, we will draw on our experience and knowledge to help you choose the best suited solution for your production.

Briquette Machine Features:

  1. Our solutions for 700-100 kg/hour productions are economical with a fast pay-back
  2. Produce high density briquettes for all markets including the consumer market
  3. We offer back-up service for remote locations

Choose the right briquetting press

If you are considering briquetting your waste material, firstly you need to determine which capacity machinery you need. We deliver presses of varying capacities, developed to sustain a certain amount. With 1000 and 4000 tons production of waste raw material per year, we recommend that you choose a briquetting line that produces 700-1000 kgs per hour. This line is a low cost line with a relatively high capacity wood briquette machine and it will give you a quick pay-back. The press of this line produces a consumer log with high density in the most widely sold and used consumer briquette sizes.

  1. The low cost of the line and the high capacity of the press combined with low prices raw material is the ideal briquetting line for productions with waste raw material ranging from 1000 to 4000 metric tons per year. The solution will give a fast pay-back especially in markets where labor and power costs are low.
  2. The press produces a consumer log with high density with a diameter of Ø75-80 mm, which is a briquette that can be sold in all markets.
  3. Both C.F. Nielsen and the customer can access the press remotely and secure a low down-time.

Feature descriptions

At C.F. Nielsen we offer our BP5000 for production between 700-100 kg /hour.

  1. The BP5000 is a strong and compact press in combination with our small BS250 Saw or BB350 Breaker. They can be delivered as a unit with a small buffer silo, dosing screw and touch screen panel. A semi-industrial packaging system will complete the line.
  2. The line will produce briquettes with a 1,0 to 1,15 density and 200 to 300 mm length with diameters of 75-80 mm. The most widely used consumer packages are shrink wrapped in ready to sell-sizes of 5 to 10 kg.
  3. The press is equipped with a Siemens PLC control system with user friendly touch screen operation. The system has a log function, which makes it possible to optimize production. The control panel can be accessed remotely.

Considering all the factors

There are many factors in determining the capacity of a briquetting press. In general, we indicate the capacity of our briquetting presses based on how many kilograms of briquettes they can produce in one hour. However, there are several other factors to take into consideration when entering briquette production. At C.F. Nielsen we offer engineering advice and adapt our briquetting presses to your specific needs.
Many consumers use logs and briquettes for wood burning stoves, which requires higher demands for the briquettes of higher density. The quality of the raw material for consumer briquettes must also often be of a higher standard, which may require pre-treatment or cleaning.

The high density of consumer logs may decrease the capacity of the briquetting press slightly. Furthermore your raw materials influence the press capacity and which line set-up you need to prepare the raw material for briquetting. There are several variables within the subject of the raw material to consider in this case.

  1. Which type of wood is used in your production?
  2. How big are the particles of your wood residue?
  3. Are you making briquettes from wood, scraps or sawdust?

Hardwood, softwood and wood that needs initial cleaning prior to briquetting will entail varying line set-ups. In general, hardwood will give a higher capacity than softwood. This is mainly due to the effort it will take from the machine to pack the wood particles hard enough for it to form a briquette. Particle size also influences pre-treatment and capacity. It is however possible to make briquettes from sawdust as well as larger scraps.
Having considered the relevant briquetting machine size, raw materials and end use of the briquette, helps us to answer your remaining questions.
